The Intersection of Jebavy Drive and Johnson Road will have a new traffic light in 2026.
The intersection has been a concern of the Mason County Road Commission for several
years. The new Elementary School at the intersection of Bryant Road & Jebavy Drive was
operational in January 2022. The additional traffic on Jebavy Drive increased delays for
traffic at the intersection of Jebavy Drive and Johnson Road.
A traffic study was conducted at the intersection of Jebavy Drive & Johnson Road by
Prein & Newhof in May of 2022. The study concluded that the levels of service at the
intersection warranted a traffic signal. The study also recommended adding a
dedicated right turn lane for south bound traffic at Jebavy Drive and Johnson Road. The
dedicated right turn lane for south-bound Jebavy Drive at Johnson Road was
constructed in 2023 with an MDOT Category F Grant and additional funding from the
MCRC.
The MCRC applied for an MDOT Safety Grant for a traffic signal at the intersection of
Jebavy Drive & Johnson Road in May of 2023 for FY2025 but was unsuccessful.
The MCRC applied again for an MDOT Safety Grant for a traffic signal at the intersection
of Jebavy Drive & Johnson Road in May of 2024 for FY2026 and was awarded a Grant in
October of 2024 the amount of $228,600.
The traffic signal work is anticipated in the Summer/Fall of 2026. This project will improve
safety and greatly improve the levels of service of the motoring public for this intersection.
Any additional questions or concerns please contact the Mason County Road
Commission.
