Lakeshore Drive at the Middle Bayou – Open to all traffic

Lakeshore Drive from Bayou Road North approximately 300’ will be closed to all traffic beginning Tuesday October 22, 2024, through November 15, 2024, for removal and replacement of the bridge deck and bridge beams.


The middle bayou bridge was constructed in 1970. The metal bridge decking has rusted through in several locations. Five of the twelve existing bridge beams have rusted significantly. Construction will include removal of the existing metal bridge deck and metal bridge beams & replacing it with new bridge beams, new metal decking and HMA paving.


Traffic for Lakeshore Drive north of the middle bayou bridge will need to take the detour route. (see next page). Please allow additional time when leaving or returning to your residence.


Also, please remember that Lakeshore Drive at the S. Bayou is currently under construction and is anticipated to be open to traffic by November 8th and fully completed by November 26, 2024.
